CORA: Broadband fibre from the Swedish side was laid through the lake Röjden up to the Norwegian border. The area between Torsby municipality in Sweden and Grue municipality in Norway is rural and consists mostly of dense forest. But there is a village and a conference hotel on the Norwegian side of the border, and they need good broadband connection.

Inn2POWER: Based on 2018 figures, the offshore wind industry and its supply chains account for 200,000 jobs in the North Sea Region alone. However, the demand for qualified personnel in the offshore wind industry remains high. This photo symbolises the importance of trained staff in an expanding industry. In addition to engineering and technology skills, management capacity needs to increase as well. Therefore, Inn2POWER developed the first MBA programme specifically for the offshore wind industry.

Inn2POWER is all about offshore wind energy, growing and innovating together. In the photo, you see a wind farm in the North Sea under a blue sky, however we also observe some clouds, symbolising the current situation of the offshore wind industry: The future looks bright, but there are challenges – definitely for SMEs – such as finding the right business partners abroad or available test and demonstration facilities. With the Inn2POWER project, we support the sector, SMEs in particular, in overcoming such bottlenecks.

CANAPE uses this charcoal burner to turn waste wood from conservation management into biochar - sustainable, high quality charcoal. Conservation waste wood is often burned in open fires as it has no commercial value.

In DUAL Ports, the Danish port of Hvide Sande and Hvide Sande District Heating are working together to create a system of sustainable energy. A “Power to X” system that accelerates the green transition and produces green energy for citizens and businesses.

SalFar is on the way to finding salt resistant wheat. As saline soils spread due to climate change, there is a need for crops that can withstand salt. Henrik Aronsson, professor of plant molecular biology at the University of Gothenburg, is inspecting the wheat.

CANAPE: Coring with the next generation – For communities that live around wetlands, it is important they have a way to understand and value them. This allows them to help protect them and gain from the natural resilience they provide to climate change. Soil coring gives an important insight into the hydrology and history of the site, which is key to conservation. Inviting the public and students to help provides more person-power, and gives them a hands on understanding of the importance of peat.

Local Neighbours’ Day: Individualism, withdrawal and loneliness are on the rise. Social bonds are growing loose. Every year in May, at Neighours Day, citizens all across Europe are invited to make a simple gesture: Invite your neighbours to share a nice time around a buffet or a luncheon, enhances social cohesion and creates new solidarities. This event gives citizens the opportunity to interact with each other and enables them to participate in an ever closer and more human European community.

2IMPREZS places pupils at the heart of their schools’ energy savings initiatives through the joint 2IMPREZS Energy Challenges, which will reduce CO2 by 7320 tonnes.
